Glad I asked!

I really appreciate your thoughtful analyses of these things. I see you're not a fan of the old 1815 Automatik. I understand your sentiment. For me, whenever I've seen that particular 1815 variation n person -- especially the platinum/silver dial version,

Pros and cons...

The 1815 Automatik is a beautiful watch. No doubt. It gives the opportunity to enjoy the Sax-o-Mat caliber. But for me, there is a little problem: I consider the 1815 as a handwind watch... don't ask me why but I prefer to see this caliber with a Langemat

Considerations for buying an older Lange? (1815 Automatik)

Hi everyone. Thanks for the wonderful info and photos over the last few months. (Hope nobody minds that I also posted this on TimeZone.) As a huge fan of the 1815 series, I'm considering buying one of the (very few) 1815 Automatiks that occasionally come

Opinion sought!

I am looking to get a time only Lange for regular wear. What's the opinion regarding the older Langematik 1815 in Platinum ref 303.025. I like it a lot; however it does not seem to be readily available in the aftermarket. How would you compare this to the

1815 Automatik it is

Thank you all for the comments and suggestions. In the end, decided to pull the trigger and go with the 1815 Automatik. Both like I mentioned are beautifully crafted watches. In the end my reasons to go with the 1815 are the following: 1) I can still get

I have a very strong preference for the 1815 Automatik...

I assume both are priced fairly. I also assume your wrist size is 6.5"-7.5" (i.e., either watch would probably look normal on your wrist). Aesthetically, I prefer literally everything about the 1815 over the Richard Lange -- the dial, case proportions, et

Size may play a role too...

A 37mm case (1815 Sax-o-mat, 303.025) vs 40.5mm case (RL). What size do you typically prefer? Personally I'd pick the 1815 simply because of the blued hands. Or, if you prefer the RL size and look, but still want the blued hands, there''s a RL boutique ed

Yes, you are right, I remember the roots of the 1815.

But the question at the end comes when we look at the 1815 automatik version: The 6 is almost totally eaten. In this case, I think I would have removed it. :) Fx

Good choice, IMHO...

The 1815 Automatik is a perfectly sized watch -- classic. And it has the Langematik movement, which is spectacular. I NEVER tire of looking at that movement. It's a wonderful watch with a classic look. You're getting it preowned, so assuming you're paying
